Artifacts

Increment

Official Artifact

A usable piece of the product created during a Sprint.

Plain English explanation

An Increment is the actual working result the team produces. It must be usable and ready to deliver.

Why it matters

Without a usable result, progress is just an illusion. The Increment proves real value is delivered.

How it works

Each Sprint produces at least one Increment that meets the Definition of Done.

Example

A team delivers a working login feature that users can actually use.

Common misunderstanding

An Increment is not partial or unfinished work. It must be complete and usable.

Key points

  • Must be usable
  • Meets Definition of Done
  • Delivered every Sprint
  • Builds toward product goals
