Sprint Goal
The single objective for the Sprint.
Plain English explanation
The Sprint Goal explains why the Sprint matters. It gives the team one clear direction instead of just a pile of tasks.
Why it matters
A Sprint Goal creates focus. When unexpected things happen, the team can make better decisions by asking: does this help us reach the goal?
How it works
During Sprint Planning, the Scrum Team creates a Sprint Goal based on the selected Product Backlog items. The Developers then plan how to achieve it during the Sprint.
Example
Instead of saying 'finish 12 backlog items,' a Sprint Goal might be: 'make account sign-up easier for new users.'
Common misunderstanding
A Sprint Goal is not the same as a list of tasks. It is the purpose that connects the work together.
